I recently had the opportunity to take a look at a much newer, much more advanced kind of Inspiron from Dell and boy, is it cool. The Inspiron duo is dubbed a “convertible tablet” that offers type, touch and dock modes. It looks like a netbook, but it also turns into a tablet and docks into an audio station to become an entertainment unit. (Plus, one lucky reader will win this prize!)
If you think about the activity in your household, odds are most of it occurs in the kitchen. It’s where families converge for meals, bills are paid, homework is done and dance parties occur (or are those just my house?). The kitchen maintains the heartbeat of the home and in many cases is where the parents do most of the organizing, managing, scheduling and entertaining.
My Dell Inspiron 1520 (an antiquated six-year-old laptop) is still holding its own as the primary way I keep track of everything I need to remember and do for running the household. But I recently had the opportunity to take a look at a much newer, much more advanced kind of Inspiron from Dell and boy, is it cool. The Inspiron duo is dubbed a “convertible tablet” that offers type, touch and dock modes. It looks like a netbook, but it also turns into a tablet and docks into an audio station to become an entertainment unit.
There is a nifty flip screen that switches it seamlessly from PC to tablet and it offers all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a laptop including a 10” screen, 320 GB hard drive, 2 GB of RAM, Windows 7 software, four-hour battery life, built-in Webcam and two USB ports. What makes this different from other netbooks/smaller PCs is that it offers touchscreen capabilities, so you can turn it into a tablet and use it that way as well for work or personal use.
Speaking of personal use, the tablet mode comes in very handy when you are accessing Dell’s Stage software which is the platform for all the music, videos, books, photos, etc. you have on your machine. From here, you can edit photos and share them on social networks, find and listen to music, watch movies and stream Internet radio. When you’re listening to your favorite tunes you want them to be loud and clear, and with the duo, you can simply snap it into the Audio Station for amplified sound.
The Dell Inspiron duo is a great machine that can help you keep the heartbeat of the house strong (and organized). It, paired with the Audio Station, is a versatile and compact unit that you can keep in the corner of the kitchen to stay organized – and for those dance parties.
*And just in time for Mother’s Day, one lucky reader will win this fantastic prize!*
