Sometimes it's nice to get advice from experts with a lot of letter degrees behind their names, but other times, you just need to hear what another parent (with a M.O.M. behind her name) has done that has worked. You've got questions? These moms have answers.

Im not sure if I am pregnant and just need some advice

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant since the begining of January. I have polysistic ovarian disease and was told it would not be a walk in the park to get pregnant. But Februarys period was very light and dark brown (usually it lasts up to 7 days and is as heavy on the last day as it was on the first), and lasted only 2 days. March has yet to produce a period. I am also very, very tired and can barely keep my eyes open past 9:00 at night. I seen to get breathless easy and it is uncomfortable to lay on my stomach. I am moody and easily irritable, my feet ache and my lower back hurts too. I have taken three pregnancy tests and they have all come back negative. I just started a new job (I teach preschool) and do not have insurance yet so I have been unable to go to a dr for a blood test. We have no other children and I have never been pregnant before, hence all the uncertainty. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? Im a little nervous about all of it. Thank you so much in advance. Rosie

planned parenthood offers a blood pregnancy test for $35.  it takes 30 minutes for the results.
I don't think you are pregnant although it may be a little to early to tell. When did you take the pregnancy test in regards to your missed period? Home Pregnancy tests are very accurate and rare to get false negatives after taking three tests. A lot of your symptoms are not typical pregnancy symptoms experienced in the first trimester. You may have something else It is really important you see a doctor. I say eat healthy and take a daily prenatal vitamin in case you are pregnant. Some local highschools and they do have some programs that offer free pregnancy tests just look on the internet I am sure you will locate these places. Again I don't think your pregnant and you may have something else that needs to be looked at but to be on the safe side act as though your pregnant that way you baby has the best start.
If you guys are trying to conceive taking prenatal vitamins never hurts. Give you all the goodies your body needs to help swimmers and eggs alike. Like jjgarcia said I'd go to planned parenthood and get testing done there. They are usually really good about telling you the definate yes or no but for a much more reasonable price. Also look into getting on state medical. You may have to pay a little but at least you get something and a much broader scope of doctors to help you figure out if you are indeed pregnant and even how to get the job done. Eliminate stress as much as possible, cut back on excessive alcohol and any other hostile activities and try to enjoy everyday. Less worries means your body is physically going to be healthier as well for any babies trying to cook in there. Hang in there! Like the old saying goes watching a pot of water on the stove won't make it cook any faster.
