Sometimes it's nice to get advice from experts with a lot of letter degrees behind their names, but other times, you just need to hear what another parent (with a M.O.M. behind her name) has done that has worked. You've got questions? These moms have answers.

Definitely do not get fixed unless you are 100% ready! Without knowing what kinds of problems you have had with birth control it  makes it pretty difficult to know if mirena would be the right choice for you. I have heard alot of very good things about Mirena. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor about the pros and cons of each type of birth control.
I love my mirena. It is a little uncomfortable when it was inserted, and I was really sore for like an hour or two after but after that I never notice it. I have had it for a little over a year now and couldn't be happier. I highly recommend!
I had a Mirena and hated it. I had constant spotting and even thought I had a miscarriage. I had it removed after that because it was just too stressful for me. Having gotten pregnant while on bc before I definitely needed to know when to expect a period, just for my own peace of mind. I had a lot of problems with bc pills after that (breakthrough bleeding, non-existent sex drive, etc.) so I finally gave it all up. I just bought ovulation tests instead and figured out exactly when I'd be ovulating. It was kind of a pain at first but it definitely made things easier in the long run. Once we're done having kids my husband is going to get a vasectomy because it's an easier, less risky procedure than tubal ligation.
