Sometimes it's nice to get advice from experts with a lot of letter degrees behind their names, but other times, you just need to hear what another parent (with a M.O.M. behind her name) has done that has worked. You've got questions? These moms have answers.

From a father: How to teach my daughter that she is beautiful

0 answers
My daughter is 3, turning 4 in April 2015. I tell her often that she is beautiful, smart, fun, etc... Recently, she has been putting on dresses and jewelry and asking "Am I pretty?". Of course, I say yes, but I also try telling her that she does not need those things to make her pretty and that she is already pretty and that beauty is more about how you look. Then, this morning, I asked her what makes her beautiful and she says jewelry and dresses. My wife and I tried avoiding the whole princess craze but it is nearly impossible. What do I need to do, if anything, to instill the belief in my daughter that she is beautiful and perfect just the way she is and that "things" don't make her beautiful?
