Sometimes it's nice to get advice from experts with a lot of letter degrees behind their names, but other times, you just need to hear what another parent (with a M.O.M. behind her name) has done that has worked. You've got questions? These moms have answers.

How do I get my 4 year old to start using the toilet again to poop?

My son has been potty trained and was actually doing well with it. Recently though, he has stopped pooping in the toilet. At first, my mother and I thought it had to do with a stomach flu (since that has been going around lately) but now as he continues to do it, we are at a loss to get him to return to pooping in the toilet. We have tried bribery and discipline. Nothing seems to work with him. I don't know if he does this out of simple defiance or if there could actually be a problem that I'm not seeing. Has anyone else had this problem?

Ifwould to nothing is working, not even a candy reward (which is the only thing that worked for my kids) it wouldn't hurt to talk to your pediatrician. If nothing else, he or she can give you more ideas for different methods you can try. And, if there is a physical or behavioral problem that has come up, the doctor should be able to figure it out.
