Clutter Buster: Clear Off the Nightstand

1. Ask yourself, "Does it need to be within reach while I'm in bed?" If not, put the paper piles somewhere else.

2. Recycle old magazines and shelve half-read books. Try to limit yourself to one piece of reading material by your bed at a time.

3. Keep a coaster for your bedside glass of water. It'll remind you to keep only one glass there (and prevent water rings).

4. Reclaim the space. Put out a plant or a photo of your family  -- something calming (it'll keep you from cluttering it up again!).
