Easier, Speedier Tubtime

Sure, giving the kids a bath is fun  -- but it takes a chunk out of your evening. To keep things moving along:

If your child won't get in...
Let her pour in some baby shampoo or a few drops of food coloring while the water's running. Still have to plead? Try having her sit in a pint-size beach chair in the tub.

If she won't get out...
Put her pajamas in the dryer, as Debra Ferrara of Scarsdale, NY, does. "I tell my kids, 'If you want to put on warm and cozy clothes, you have to get out of the bath right now.' They jump right out!"

When there's more playing than washing...
Opt for toys that serve a bathtime purpose: Puppet washcloths, foaming or glittery soap, and a small watering can to rinse out shampoo all encourage good, clean fun.

To get the toys put away faster...
Use a big plastic colander to scoop everything up at once  -- it's also great for rinsing off playthings.

So you don't have to mop...
Raid the hamper before the bath and spread used towels around the tub to soak up splashes. Afterward, gather 'em up and head straight for the laundry.
