April's showers bring May flowers  -- and kids who think it's warm enough to go without a jacket. Because life's too short for you and your child to spar over outerwear, try this:

While you want to make sure she's protected from the elements, you don't have to make her put on the raincoat inside the house. Let her discover for herself  -- four feet out the door  -- that it's too cold/wet/yucky for only a T-shirt. You, standing behind her patiently holding her gear, will be all the I-told-you-so she needs. (And yes, chances are she'll do it again next week.)
