Rhode Island Novelty's Children's Mood Necklaces Recalled

March 15, 2007
Rhode Island Novelty has recalled about 47,000 children's mood necklaces. The jewelry contains high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested by small children.

The mood necklaces have multi-colored pendants in the shapes of hearts, moons, dolphins, dragonflies, stars, and butterflies. The pendants hang from a black cord, and "Mood Necklace" is printed on the packaging. The necklaces were sold nationwide at carnivals, amusement parks, family entertainment centers, small discount stores, and at Rhode Island Novelty's website,, from August 2005 to December 2006 for about $1.

Consumers should take the mood necklace away from children and return it to the store where purchased or to Rhode Island Novelty for a replacement jewelry product.
