Meeting Karen Lee (Our Advisor) In Person

I found out at 4 pm last Friday that we finally closed on my house. It probably should have been a happy experience for me, but it made me sad. When we got married and decided to have a family, Eric and I had planned to stay in the house for 6 to 7 years longer. I certainly didn’t think that I’d be moving away from family and friends. I certainly didn’t plan for such a loss in household income. On the upside, I am certainly happy to have this behind us. Now, we can begin to move forward.

On Saturday, we finally got to meet Karen Lee in person. The meeting was low key and friendly. I surprised Karen with a lunch of homemade eggplant parmigiano and pumpkin spice muffins. She surprised us with a gift of a night out and a present for our daughter!

The meeting was certainly different than what we expected. We focused more on familial upbringing in relation to finances than dealing with the current issues. My husband and I enjoyed the conversation but really didn't feel as though anything got accomplished. I am sure that Karen has an agenda that will work for us positively, but as of right now I’m not seeing a bigger picture.

Talking about so many emotional issues made my head felt like it was going to explode, so it was nice to have some down time after the meeting and get ready for a date with my husband! I haven't had a real full night out with just him since our daughter was 6 weeks old. We kept it casual and went to a sushi/hibachi restaurant and then to the movies. Karen had been more than generous, so we actually had some money left on our gift card--I put it towards the groceries today!

Thanks so much, Karen. I’m looking forward to meeting with you in the future!
