Every Tuesday, we’ll report exactly how much our families have in their checking accounts -- and what they’re planning to do with it.
For the holidays, my family and I are taking off on a road trip to visit with my grandmother, who lives in Florida and we haven't seen in over a year. With all the bills due on the 1st, we wouldn’t be able to visit if she hadn't offered to give up her bedroom so we could sleep comfortably, while she sleeps on the couch. She’s really excited and said she would make dinner for us on Friday night and they’re going to treat us to dinner on Saturday night. Score! We’ll only have to really worry about gas money and a few incidentals. We’re going to the beach on Saturday afternoon, which also doesn't really cost any money. I’m really looking forward to the upcoming week!
I’m trying not to panic. I’ll need to find a way to put gas in the car this week. I thought some of the money I’m expecting would be here by now, but so far it hasn’t arrived. I’m sure it will soon. At least I know the bills are paid through about mid-December. More should arrive by then, but not knowing for sure is challenging. And I know I’ll want to take something to the family Thanksgiving dinner. I’ll have to find something that I can make with what I have.
That's what's in the credit union. But my bank balance, the one that was in the negative, is accruing more debt with fees and interest. They’re trying to sue me for it. Collections is calling night and day.
