America’s Wonder Year Adventure 2012

Are you familiar with Wonderopolis?  If not, you should head over there.  It’s a fabulous website created by the National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL) to encourage families to play and learn together by making education a fun and integrated part of daily life.

Each day the site lists a Wonder of the Day, a fun exploration of a topic you may have always wondered about.  What makes fireflies twinkle?  How do you set a world record?  It’s a great way to get your kids thinking, wondering and learning about the world.

Wonderopolis is currently searching for three dynamic families and two teachers from diverse communities to join them in their efforts next year for America’s Wonder Year Adventure.

From the press release:

“The Wonder Year Adventure is open to the general public and will kick off with a hunt for three families and two teachers from diverse communities across the nation to join the groundbreaking family learning site for a Wonder Year. The families and teachers will learn, play and grow together through wonder while they empower the Wonderopolis audience and inspire them to do the same both online and offline.”

Does your family want to begin an excellent learning adventure?  Go to their site to learn more.  Applications will be accepted through October 22nd, 2011.

Wonderopolis receives major financial support from the Verizon Foundation and was chosen by Time Magazine in 2011 as one of the 50 best websites of the year.
