Get Your Teacher Featured on Mom Congress!

Do you know an amazing teacher who deserves some special recognition?  We want to feature outstanding educators on the Mom Congress blog and I’d love to hear about the teachers in your lives who make a difference.

Shoot me an email with the following information:

-Teacher’s Name

-Teacher’s State

-Grade or subject taught

-What this teacher does to stand out and make a difference in the lives of children where you live

-Words of encouragement you would give to this teacher to thank him and inspire him to keep serving those kids and families

Please send your stories to mcfeaturedteacher@hotmail.com with “Featured Teacher” in the subject line.

On WorkingMother.com last week, Jeanne Garbarino wrote about the important role of inspired teachers and shared how much a letter of simple thanks can mean to a teacher who’s giving his all, day in and day out, in a truly crucial and incredibly difficult job.  Reading her words played a big part in inspiring me to ask for these tributes.

In New York City, the department of education has a Thank a Teacher website, making it easy for parents and kids to hop online and express gratitude for these people who enrich our lives in such a profound way.  Check it out if you’re in New York.  If not, send me an email or send your teacher an email or maybe just write a note on a napkin, but let her know the positive impact she’s having.

Kathryn Thompson is a mom to two school-aged kids, a toddler, and a deceased betta fish. She can also be found at The Parenting Post, DaringYoungMom.com and occasionally the gym.
