One thing that is going great in education in your state: School choice.

One thing you wish could be improved in education in your state: Pre-service teacher training.

Your favorite teacher (and why): Miss Sarah Preston is my favorite teacher because her parental communication and mentorship taught me a great deal about how to better help my young son with PDD-NOS (pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified).

Secret indulgence: French fries and chocolate chip cookies (but it’s no secret).

Favorite quote: “Instead of thinking outside the box, just get rid of it!” — Unknown

Biggest wish for your kids: To be independent, happy, compassionate people.

Most rewarding/challenging stage of parenthood thus far (and why): The most challenging stage was getting my younger son diagnosed and services needed to address his delays from age 21 months to present. My most rewarding is becoming a mom of a child with a disability which has also opened my eyes to the tremendous dedication I see in other parents of children with needs and the incredible perseverance these children have in their everyday lives.

Favorite family tradition: Celebrating birthdays with unique themed parties.

Favorite family activities: Playing games, building things out of LEGOS, movie nights, and staying in our pajamas all day once in a while!
