A bar for gifted children means a higher bar for all children.
New legislation that will address a long-conspicuous absence in federal education law is currently making its way through the House and Senate. The TALENT Act would amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) to support high-ability and high achieving students, an area of education that is not currently accounted for in federal law.
I am so VERY EXCITED about this. I would love for each delegate to call/email her respective Senators or Members of Congress and ask them to help move this along.
NEVER has this been considered a group to be accounted for under ESEA. This is a big deal in my neck of the woods and Nancy Green, CAE, Executive Director of the National Association for Gifted Children who co-presented with Bonnie Delong and I at this year’s Mom Congress Conference, helped get it to this position. We might show her thanks by taking the action needed to move it along.
