I Thought I'd Never Nest

I'm not much of a homemaker, or an organizer, or a clean freak. In fact, in our five years of marriage I've probably done the laundry about three times, and the dishes maybe a half dozen times. My husband and I share different duties of the household but he most definitely does most of the cleaning. It's usually bribery and begging that finally gets me to help.

When I was first explaining different symptoms I may experience during pregnancy, I told my husband nesting could be one of them, and that I'd probably start helping with the house chores. I was a little surprised when he stared laughing. I finally got him to tell me what was so funny and he said he just couldn't see that happening to me.

Well, believe it or not, it's happening! I'm not exactly doing the dishes or laundry yet, but I reorganized my entire closet (and color-coded it) and I've started crafting like never before.

I've always been more of a shopper than a creator but I think this nesting thing is giving me the urge to make things with my bare hands.

I made a mobile for her room cutting out and gluing close to 200 paper and cardstock butterflies. I busted out my sewing machine to put the finishing touches on the ribbon that hangs it.

The picture doesn't do it justice but you get the general idea. Once I get a full picture of it hanging in the nursery I'll take another photo.

I also used scrapbook paper, wooden letters I ordered online and mod podge to make a pretty name decoration to hang above her crib! Her name is secret until birth so I can only give you this sneak peak for now!

Believe it or not, it didn't stop there either. I even took up tutu making, and I've made a few of these for my little girl. I also tied in a little of my shopping addiction and stocked up on tulle so I can make about 100 more before she's born.

Ok, so maybe I'm getting a little out of control, but I'm really enjoying this new wave of energy and desire to make things for my baby girl. I hear the 2nd trimester is when you have all of your energy and are able to get things done before you're too big and tired to do anything. I'm even thinking of assembling the crib today!

I must say, even though I haven't started scrubbing the grout with a toothbrush yet, I can feel that coming. I'm completely annoyed with dirty spots I never use to pay attention to, and they're bothering me like never before. I bought some eco-friendly cleaner to get ready for the cleaning marathon ahead.

I have a feeling this is only the beginning of my nesting craze, but for once, I've ready and willing, and I say "bring it!"
