Five years ago, photographer Danny Goldfield set out on a mission to photograph one child from every country in the world. But he wasn’t planning on racking up frequent flyer miles – he wanted to find kids under 12 from every nation who all live in New York City.
So far, New York City children from 169 countries have been photographed and posted on Goldfield’s websites nychildren.org and dannygoldfield.com, leaving only 27 more countries to go. The beautiful photos, many of which are candid shots, celebrate each child’s uniqueness, but also show that kids, whether they’re from Ireland, Japan, or Burkina Faso are…kids. They all like to play. They laugh. They have tantrums!
Once he completes his photo quest, Goldfield hopes to invite all the participants and their families to gather at a public exhibition in New York City.
