Are you as excited about the warm weather this weekend as I am? It’s supposed to be at least 55 degrees and sunny in Brooklyn, which beats today’s chilly temps.
If you’re ready to get outside, but your kids are still in winter’s video game-playing and movie-watching mood, try these tips.
Create a treasure chest. Fill a large container with balls, rackets, nets, Frisbees, jump ropes, bubbles and sidewalk chalk. Let your kids choose their favorite items to take outside.
Explore nearby parks, especially ones that might have had renovations done since the last time you visited. I have a new jungle gym to check out!
Set up an obstacle course in the backyard using chairs, the swing set, and the trampoline (if you have one).
Take the dog for a walk or borrow a neighbor’s dog. See if you can round up a few other families to make it an extra-special outing.
Grab the bikes. Check to make sure the tires are inflated, the seat’s at the right height, and all other parts are working properly before going for a ride. If you’re feeling inspired, pack a picnic lunch.
Do you have other great ways to celebrate spring? Fill me in. Maybe next weekend will be nice, too.
