Nursery of the Week: Retro Bold

Ginny Phillips

Congratulations Ginny Phillips, the fourth of six weekly winners for the Babytalk Show Us Your Nursery photo contest! Have you entered yet? You have until June 30 to enter your baby’s room for a chance to win weekly prizes or the grand prize of design services and more from Little Crown Interiors—and be featured in the pages of Babytalk Magazine!

Ginny’s design inspiration: The overall theme is vintage and retro with bold prints, textures, and a hint of a winter woodland theme, since I also wanted to use elements of nature within the room. The colors, patterns, and shapes are all very 1970s. Since we were on a tight budget for this room, all four furniture pieces came from second-hand stores and antique shops. Most of the accessories and projects in the room were DIY. The money-saving projects we undertook in this room certainly paid off.

What the designers from Little Crown Interiors had to say:
We love the combo of retro and modern this room.   Working with that bright orange chair was pretty daring, but this homeowner really rose to the challenge!  We love all the different patterns—the vibe is a fun, wild, 1970s atmosphere.  We know these parents must have a smile on their faces whenever they look at that funky dresser with the cute accessories.  All in all, this is a thoroughly happy room!

Nursery design tip:
Want to create a similar look? We use and absolutely love the decals from weeDECOR. They have a fun assortment of designs, many with that perfect combination of contemporary and vintage.

Congratulations to Ginny and thanks to Munchkin for her prize, an Arm & Hammer Nursery Essentials prize pack, including an Arm & Hammer Diaper Pail, Arm & Hammer Nursery Wipes, the Arm & Hammer Nursery Fresheners, in a SaraBear Basket by Munchkin.
