I confess: my daughter watches TV pretty much every day. I don’t know how I’d prepare dinner at night without recorded episodes of Yo Gabba Gabba. Oh sure, we have the occasional night of her “helping” me cook, or coloring contentedly while I chop and boil, but most of the time dinner prep takes way too long if I don't flip on the TV. I comfort myself by thinking of all the enriching, educational things she does at school every day, but still it nags at me that the idiot box is such a crutch for me.
Turns out I am not alone. In our latest JuiceBoxJungle Video, nearly three-quarters of parents polled say their kids watch TV every day too, and 50% would rather give up alcohol than the boob tube. Watch the video to find out how TV affects kids’ brains, and how you can feel a little less guilty about the electronic babysitter.
