Did you know that Parenting employees are going to try to break a world record? We're joining forces with Jumpstart in October, hoping to get more than 1 million kids reading the same book on the same day. Very cool.
Don't miss this special invitation from our Editor-in-Chief. We hope you join us!
What are you doing on October 8? How does breaking a world record while raising awareness about the importance of early education sound?
It's easy! Join The Parenting Group as we participate in Jumpstart's Read for the Record -- a celebration of reading, community service and fun -- all to support Jumpstart's work with preschool children in low-income communities. We expect more than one million children across the county will read The Very Hungry Caterpillar this October and ask you to read, too.
We're supporting this campaign in a big way. Employees will be joining a street brigade in New York City to create local buzz, reading to their own children, and setting up our own Parenting Group Very Virtual Book Drive -- all to break the world record of the most children reading the same book on the same day!
As you are a committed group of parents looking to give the best for your own children, as well as those who are less fortunate, we invite you to get involved too! Here's how:
> Go to Read for the Record.org to learn more about the program.
> Pledge to read with a child in your life on October 8.
> Buy your very own copy of this year's official campaign book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Copies are now on sale at Walmart stores nationwide and net proceeds benefit Jumpstart.
Thank you, and happy reading!
Susan Kane, Editor-in-Chief
on behalf of all Parenting Group employees
