Nap Nanny Baby Recliners Recalled

The Nap Nanny may have caught your eye earlier this year from the People photo spread featuring new mom Sandra Bullock and her son Louis, but the CPSC today announced a recall of 30,000 Nap Nanny Baby Recliners.

When placed in a crib, a baby can wriggle out of the Nap Nanny and possibly become entrapped in the space between the Nap Nanny and crib side, posing a suffocation hazard. The CPSC reported that a 4-month-old baby died as a result of suffocation in this way, and a separate incident where a baby became entrapped. The CPSC also received multiple reports of infants falling out of the Nap Nanny, despite being buckled into the harness. The Nap Nanny is intended for floor use only.

Consumers with first generation Nap Nannys — those made without D-rings in the foam base — should stop using the product immediately and contact Nap Nanny for an $80 coupon and free shipping towards a new Nap Nanny. Consumers with second generation Nap Nannys (those with the D-rings) should visit for new use instructions and warnings. For more information, contact Baby Matters toll-free at (888) 240-4282 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit the firm's website at
