Up there among the world’s worst parenting decisions is a Vancouver, Washington woman’s reported attempt to sell her 3-day-old son for $500 to $5,000 at a Taco Bell.
After she was turned down, someone had the sense to call 911. The 36-year-old mother was tracked down at a local motel, where she was found with her healthy newborn and arrested on several outstanding warrants as well as suspicion of attempted child selling-buying, a Class C felony.
Although other customers at Taco Bell said that she appeared drunk or high, the mom claimed to have been clean from methamphetamine for a year. She reportedly admitted that she was trying to sell her baby to get enough money to leave town and start a new life.
She’s currently in jail and is barred from any contact with her son. We hope both mother and son get the help they need.
