Bassettbaby Drop-Side Cribs Recalled

CPSC

About 90,000 Bassettbaby drop-side cribs with external plastic hardware have been recalled due to entrapment, suffocation and fall hazards. The cribs’ drop-side rail can detach or malfunction, causing part of the drop side to detach from the crib, thus creating a space where an infant or toddler can become entrapped and potentially strangle or suffocate. No injuries were reported, but the manufacturer, Bassett Furniture Industries, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission are aware of 18 incidents in which drop sides malfunctioned or detached from the cribs, as well as an additional 154 reports of drop-side hardware breaking during shipment, assembly, or use. This recall does not include non drop-side cribs.
