Nutty about Pecans

Pistachios are getting a bad rap these days thanks to the latest nut recall. In January, a Georgia manufacturing facility ruined peanuts’ reputation.

What’s a nut-loving girl, who’s as addicted to her peanut butter toast today as she once was to her cut-on-a-diagonal, no-crust PB&J sandwiches to do?

Easy! Embrace the pecan. Another reason for the variety? It’s National Pecan Month!

Pecans are loaded with antioxidants, including Vitamin E. They’re also a good source of oleic acid, which is the same fatty acid found in olive oil. Adding these protein-packed treats to you daily diet helps lower your cholesterol, too. The fat in the nuts will help you feel fuller longer, too.

So, toss some pecans onto a salad or into your next batch of chocolate chip cookies.
