Botox Mom Says It Was a Hoax

This story just gets weirder and weirder. Remember the mom who injected her 8-year-old beauty queen daughter with Botox and then blithely defended the practice on Good Morning America? Now she’s claiming she made it all up. Why? She says British tabloid The Sun paid her $200 to play the role (her real name is not Kerry Campbell but Sheena Upton) of stage mother from hell and even gave her a script to follow for interviews. She says she was subsequently paid for interviews with Good Morning America and Inside Edition.

"The truth is that I have never given my daughter Botox, nor allowed her to get any type of waxing, nor is she a beauty pageant contestant," Upton said in a statement. She is coming clean now in order to get back custody of her daughter, who was taken away by Child Protective Services after her interview aired. Her statement also claims she took her daughter to a hospital for a dermatologist to confirm, in the presence of a social work, that no Botox had been injected. Her daughter has been returned to her home, at least temporarily.
