Stay-at-Home Moms: Are You Offended By the Term “Working Mom?”

This cut-n-paste status has been all over Facebook in the last few days:

Do I work? Yes! I work 24 hours a day. Why? Because I'm a MOM. I am a cook, a cleaner, a parent, a teacher, a referee, a nanny, a nurse, a handyman, a maid, a security officer and a comforter. I don't get holidays, sick-pay, or a day OFF. I work through the day and the night. I am on call at all hours. Now tell me my job isn't a real one ~~~~Re-post if you are a MOM

I often calling myself a working mom; it’s less cumbersome that saying I am a mom who works full-time outside the home. But please don’t read my desire to be succinct with a lack of respect for what stay-at-home moms do. Being a mom is literally the toughest job in the world (ok, maybe those guys who drive rigs over ice roads that could crack at any time might have it slightly tougher), and even more so if you never get the kid-free break that a job outside the home provides. SAH moms, I bow down before you, seriously. I don’t know if I could do it.

Do you get offended by the term “working mom?”
