Okay, get out your hankies. There's an amazing story on the New York Times online about some girls in Kandahar, Afghanistan who were splashed with burning acid just for attending school, but refuse to stop going to classes.
"The people who did this to me don't want women to be educated. They want us to be stupid things," said Shamsia Husseini, one of the girls who was attacked. But over a thousand girls at the Mirwais School for Girls won't be deterred from getting their education. And the local government has promised its support. "My parents told me to keep coming to school even if I am killed," Shamsia said.
What a decision to have to make. Read about these incredible girls here.
