Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 30 to 35 minutes
Yields: 6 servings
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, plus 1 teaspoon
5 large apples, peeled, cored, and cut into thick slices
1 teaspoon ground allspice
½ teaspoon ground cloves
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup granola
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup apple cider
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease the bottom of a large ovenproof skillet or baking dish with 1 teaspoon butter. Place the apples in the dish and toss with half the allspice and cloves. 2. In a medium bowl, mix the flour, granola, sugar, and remaining allspice and cloves. Cut the butter into small cubes, and working with your hands, a pastry blender, or two flat knives, mix it into the flour mixture until it resembles small peas. 3. Spoon the topping over the apples and pour in the cider. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
