Star Sliders

Use a cookie cutter to make this adorable 4th of July recipe

Prep time: 30 to 40 minutes

Total time: 50 minutes to 1 hour (including grilling)

Serves: 8 (2 or 3 sliders each)

20 English muffins

Star cookie cutter (3 or 3 1/2 inches, point to point)

2 lb ground beef

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

  1. Split the English muffins, and cut each half with the cookie cutter. Toast until just crisped. (May be done ahead of time.)

  2. Combine the beef, salt, and pepper. Form into 20 (2-inch) patties. Grill over direct heat to desired degree of doneness–approximately 4 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of at least 160°F. (Add cheese, if you like, in the final 2 minutes of grilling.)

  3. Serve on the star toasts. Set out a topping bar with some sliced avocado, roasted red peppers, curly leaf lettuce, gruyère cheese, pickles, and sliced onions, as desired.
