Lisa Bain's French Toast

* 6 slices White bread, cut in half
* 4 eggs
* Low-fat milk (not skim….2 or 1% is fine)
* Tsp or so vanilla extract
* Couple shakes of cinnamon
* 1/4 cup of OJ
* Butter

1. Put everything but the bread and butter into a bowl and mix with a whisk.

2. Melt a Tbsp or so of butter into a skillet, over medium heat.

3. Dip each 1/2 slice of bread into the egg mixture, put in skillet, turn when browned and cook other side.

4. Serve hot with butter and warmed syrup.

Optional: Serve with sliced strawberries, which are really yummy with maple syrup.

Linda Rodgers' Chocolate Chip Pancakes

* 1/2 to 3/4 cup of pancake batter mix
* 1/2 cup milk
* 1 egg
* 1/4 cup chocolate chips

1. Beat milk and egg, then stir in batter mix.

2. Stir in chocolate chips.

3. Cook.

The best thing about chocolate chip pancakes is that you don't have to douse them with maple syrup. And kids usually drink a glass of milk along with them (a sneaky way to get them to drink milk if they're not milk drinkers).

Deborah Skolnik's Adulterated Crescent Rolls

1. Take a tube of Pillsbury crescent rolls, put about a teaspoon (or maybe a little more, maybe a teaspoon and a half) of cream cheese at the base of each.

2. Roll them, sprinkle them with sugar and bake as directed on the package.

This is a great kid-friendly recipe. Even when Clara and Genie were very young, like 1 1/2 years old or something, they could help with the cream cheese and rolling and sugar-sprinkling.

Jen Geddes' Palacinki, aka Crepes

* 1 cup flour
* 1 cup milk
* 1 egg
* 1 TBLS sugar

1. Mix up, add more milk as needed to make a thin batter.

2. Brush a hot pan with melted butter, and swirl some batter in it to form a crepe.

3. When set, flip over — it should be light brown.

4. Spread/fill with Nutella, jam, or butter and sugar — yummm!

Josh Lerman's Waffles

* Waffles
* 1 cup sifted flour
* 1.5 cups milk
* 1 stick butter, melted
* 2 teaspoon baking powder
* two eggs, separated

1. Preheat waffle iron

2. Separate eggs and with an electric mixer beat whites until they're just stiff — hold peaks.

3. In separate bowl combine yolks with other ingredients, mixing them until smooth with electric mixer or whisk.

4. Fold in egg whites, but don't mix too much. Goal is not perfect smoothness. Okay for some blobs.

5. Make waffles with the batter.

6. Serve however you like — we once made them for dinner and ate them with a sprinkle of salt.

In addition to adding ingredients, the kids love to operate the mixer. Olivia, age 11, can do the whole thing on her own.
