How to Make a Lion Bento Lunch Box

  • The lion's face is made with a kiddie fave standby: Mac and cheese. Arrange the noodles to make a "mane".

Antichoking warning: Remember to remove toothpicks and cut up blueberries, grapes, carrots and other food for children under 4. See our Antichoking guide for more information.

  • To make the lion's face, cut up cheese circles with small cookie cutters and small celery strips for whiskers. Let you kid decorate his own lion face.

  • Cut celery and carrots in strips and serve with a cup of peanut butter on the side. Swap out the PB for hummus, ranch dressing, yogurt or your kid's favorite dip.
  • Spearing alternate colored grape halves make a fun fruit kabob, but you can have your kid pick out their favorite colors and flavors. Have older kids mix and match their own.
  • The lion bento is made with a mini baked omelet, but you can use mashed potatoes, a meatball or any leftovers you've got on hand that will fit into a mini cup.
