Diarrhea: Causes

Diarrhea is most often caused by a virus but can also result from a bacterial infection, an allergy, or a medication. Antibiotics could be the culprit since they sometimes disturb the balance of “good” and “bad” bacterial in the intestinal tract. Additionally, some doctors say that the excess saliva from teething may lead to a mild case of loose stools. Changes in a child's diet due to the introduction of solid foods may also be a cause.
