The Short of It
Some people really want to have a big family with lots of babies, but what do you do if it's not in the cards for you in the traditional way? Well, a gay couple in England announced that they're going to be the proud parents to three babies born to three different surrogates in the span of seven months. Holy wow batman, are they going to have their hands full!
This is believed to be a first time occurrence in the world of surrogate births. The happy couple, Daryl Lee, 41, and Luke Harris, 50, will soon be the proud papas of three babies, all to be born within seven months of each other. The babies are expected to make their arrivals sometime between January and July of 2015.
Lee, a medical professional, and Harris, a computer programmer, became civil partners in 2012, but they have spent the last 15 years trying to become parents. The couple always knew they wanted a big family and joined several online forums to try to find a suitable surrogate with a suitable womb; apparently, they found three. It looks like their dream of a large family is about to come true.
We love the fact that we live in a world where whether you are gay or straight, a big family (or any family at all) is not only possible but also probable, if you want it. Congratulations to the proud papas, times three.
