The Short of It
Singer Alicia Keys and her husband Swizz Beatz became second time parents over the holiday weekend, welcoming a second son. Not surprisingly, the celebrity couple gave him a unique name, with biblical roots.
Keys announced her little one's birth on Instagram with this message: "The joy of joy is joy!! It's a boy!! we are so grateful!! #blessings!"
The Grammy winner also shared her son's name in an accompanying photo: Genesis Ali Dean.
What, did you expect her to name him John?
Genesis joins big brother Egypt, age 4. It seems names with biblical roots are becoming a trend for Alicia Keys. Perhaps her next child will be named Exodus or Deuteronomy? Just a suggestion...
We know a few details about baby Genesis besides his moniker. The tot was born on Saturday, Dec. 27 at 1:52 a.m. and weighed just 6 pounds, 5 ounces.
We can also infer from Keys' social media post that she is over the moon about her new addition!
I'd say Keys capped off 2014 in the best way possible. I can only imagine how grateful she will feel when the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve and she looks over at her beautiful new family-of-four—because we know she'll be up with newborn Genesis!
Congratulations to all of them.
