Dad Dresses as Life-Size 'Elf on the Shelf'

The Short of It

Dad takes the "Are you Elf enough?" game to a whole new level by actually becoming the "Elf on the Shelf."

The Lowdown

Meet FLE.

FLE, otherwise known as Joe Wynberg, a dad of four who has taken this year's Elf on the Shelf duties into his own hands, quite literally, by dressing up as Santa's spy and posing around the family's house.

"So we finally caved and decided to do the 'Elf on the Shelf' thing, his wife Megan wrote on Facebook. "The kids are going to be so surprised! We named our elf FLE and he will be in some pretty precarious spots over the next 24 days! Enjoy."

Why dream up creative scenarios for an "Elf on the Shelf" doll when you can actually, you know, BE an "Elf on the Shelf" doll, right?

The couple's first post featured Joe—in full elf garb, complete with rosy red cheeks—perched on top of the refrigerator. Day 2 had him sitting criss-cross-applesauce on the kitchen table, his face smeared with chocolate, with the caption Megan wrote: "FLE ate the kids advent calendars. They will be devastated!"

The life-size troublemaker has also been caught making snow angels out of flour, hanging upside-down in the family room and lying trapped underneath a fallen Christmas tree after he "tried to get in the tree like his other 'Elf on the Shelf' buddies."

"I'm getting rid of this thing!" Megan joked on Facebook. But she returned the next day to show that she'd duct taped him to the wall.

And of course, a couple of the poses had to cross over into the realm of a little inappropriate:

The Upshot

While the Wynbergs are not the first couple to go rouge when it comes to creative Elf on the Shelf ideas, they are definitely upping the ante on the whole "Are you Elf enough?" game. Their Facebook friends are just as eagerly awaiting their daily posts as their four kids. And today, Megan shared a message of thanks: "I just want to say that my husband Joe and I are very humbled at the support of our family, friends and complete strangers these past 9 days. In a world filled with sickness, war and general unhappiness each and everyone of you have shown what life really is about. Happiness, laughter and love. Please continue following us as we continue to hopefully bring some joy into this world."
