Doritos Flavored Soda: Would You Let Your Kids Try It?

Short & Sweet

How low can you go? When it comes to unhealthy food and drinks, PepsiCo may have lowered the bar to rock bottom. Believe it or not, the company is introducing a new Doritos flavored Mountain Dew called Dewitos.

The Lowdown

According to USA Today, the soda and the processed snack chip have formed a marriage of disgustingness, inexplicably combining their two products. The result? Nacho cheese flavored soda.

Parents, this artificial tasting beverage cannot possibly be healthy for our kids! But it seems they are the ones who created the demand for the cringe-worthy carbonated cheese drink.

"We are always testing out new flavors of Mountain Dew and giving our fans a voice in helping decide on the next new product has always been important to us. We opened up the DEW flavor vault and gave students a chance to try this Doritos-inspired flavor as part of a small program at colleges and universities," a Mountain Dew spokesperson explained about the impetus for the new flavor.

The Upshot

We don't yet know if this ill-conceived flavor combination will be available in stores. What we do know is that if it's coming to a store near you, your kids will be begging to try it. A word of advice? Just say no! After all, Mountain Dew already contains caffeine, high fructose corn syrup and dye. Adding nacho cheese flavor isn't likely to make it more nutritious!
