Photo of Actor's Wife Breastfeeding on Toilet Sparks Cheers & Outrage

The Short of It

Elisha Wilson Beach, wife of TV actor Michael Beach ("Sons of Anarchy," "Third Watch" and "ER"), probably knew she would be criticized by some when she posted a photo of herself breastfeeding while on the toilet on Instagram. But she likely could not have imagined just how much debate her picture of "the reality" of motherhood would spur.

The Lowdown

Beach isn't apologizing for the very intimate picture she decided to share online. The mom-of-two was snapped while nursing her toddler as she sat on the toilet in the bathroom.

The expression on Beach's face suggests she finds a certain humor in what she is doing. I say, moms, if we can't just laugh at how hard it is to do it all, we are doomed!

The caption on her very honest Instagram photo reads, "This is motherhood and it ain't always pretty. What's your #momtruth? #motherhood #motherhoodaintpretty #tmi #confessionsofamom #ididthat #iamnotsorry."

According to the Daily Mail, the photo was also shared on Facebook by a page called Life of Dad. Since then, it has been shared more than 25,000 times and liked more than 211,000 times.

While some people applaud Beach's honesty, others are outraged, slamming the mom for breastfeeding a child in the bathroom because it's unsanitary in their view. Several commenters don't hold back in ripping Beach apart, for everything, from where she is breastfeeding, to how she is positioned, to her decision to share the photo, to the messy state of her bathroom.

The Upshot

While I wouldn't share this online, personally, I have no problem with what she is doing. As a mom-of-three, I have learned that whatever works best for you to get through the day in one piece, you should do it! That's reality, people.

As Beach later said on Facebook, "I shared it on Instagram knowing that some people would think it's TMI, but it's reality."

What do you think?
