The Short of It
A few hours before her senior prom, Hannah Tate, heard a knock on her door. It was her favorite celebrity hairstylist, Tokyo Stylez. He gave the teen, who's battling cancer and who lost all her hair, a new wig and the star treatment.
Hannah is fighting a rare type of kidney cancer and has spent much of her senior year in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments, which made her hair fall out. While looking forward to prom, she reached out to Stylez on Instagram and asked him to send her a wig.
"I really liked him and all his pictures and his work and would show all my friends," Hannah explains.
Stylez is known for working with celebrities, such as Rihanna, Naomi Campbell and Gabrielle Union. Not only did Stylez surprise Hannah by bringing her a new wig, but he also styled it for her, and he brought along a makeup artist to do her makeup, too.
"She teared up and cried a little bit. I didn't want her to because I didn't want to cry," Stylez told WATE TV 6 reporters. "It's like a once in a lifetime thing. You only go to your senior prom once, so to be a part of it is something that she'll always remember."
After all she's been through, it's wonderful that Hannah felt confident and beautiful on what was an exciting day for her.
"It just makes me smile. It makes me happy," the teen said.
