As a child, did you pretend to live in a castle by arranging old blankets over the couch and chairs? There was something so fun about sitting underneath mom's old sheets. Now think how much more awesome it would be to actually have a bed that looks like a mini house! Enter the toddler house bed, also known as a Montessori floor bed.
These beds are exactly what they sound like: Picture a house-shaped frame above the mattress, complete with windows, a door and a kitchen (OK, just kidding about the kitchen). But now picture your little angel's precious head resting underneath one of these magical creations.
While this may seem like a cool, new way to sleep, the floor bed concept actually dates back to the early 20th century teaching philosophy called the Montessori Method, which focuses on placing everything a child needs to learn and explore at the child's level. So, by placing their bed on the floor, you give children independence and a chance to learn on their own terms.
Here, we've rounded up some of our favorite toddler house beds that are ready to take up residence in dreamland.

This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the s...ame format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher. read more

I told this story to my great nephew Thomas O'Brien, when he was seven years old. I wanted to explain to him what the power of lov...e can do; and chose a baby giraffe as the chief character in my story. It tells of his adventures after being captured in Africa by wicked hunters and brought to a zoo in England, where he is befriended by the zookeeper's children. A bond of love develops between them, enabling the little animal to speak to them in the language of the animal kingdom. He then asks them to help him to return to his homeland in the foothills of Kiliminjaro. "Roger Cressey weaves a gentle message of love and kindness in this thought-provoking tale." Grandpa Donkey Abraham is a great storyteller. He is a walking historian. However, his job can best be described as teacher. He ha...s many techniques to get his listeners to learn. His greatest message is for us not to demean, threaten, hate, bully or reject anyone but with a caring heart and a loving spirit to teach and to entertain. He will not deny that he loves his Creator. He praises the Creator with joy. He teaches all of the barnyard animals to praise and give God thanks all the time. God loves us all, animals and humans, "so does Grandpa Donkey Abraham." History tells us who we are. The present is preparing us for what we are becoming. The future is a product of today. Grandpa Donkey Abraham would say after saying all that, "But God!"I, the author, pray that you will tell stories to your children like my father did when I was growing up. His doing so is some of the greatest memories of my childhood. Hard work, church, and my father's stories saturated my mind with images of times past. The bad comes when you don't want it to, but thank God for the good. I can go back in time and pull out a memory card and replay the story again. If you have been around me for a while, I am sure I have told you at least one of his stories. Now you have a reason to read Numbers 22:1-35 in the Bible to your children. I would like to continue to write stories of Grandpa Donkey Abraham. So can I count on you to listen and learn? read more
