There are times when we don't want glitter or ruffles or confusing designs splattered all over our kids' clothes. That's why we love Primary. Their clothes are basic and simple and can be worn over and over again. Another reason we love Primary? They're also making Halloween easy by inspiring parents to take matters into their own hands to create clever and adorable DIY Halloween costumes without having to pick up a needle and thread. Best of all, the costumes can have a second life—the hoodie your little guy wore for his dragon costume can be the same hoodie he wears to school the following week — minus the scales, of course. Winter weather is hastily headed this way, and the frigid temps have already arrived. Brrr! Now is the time to make sure your kiddo has the best snow boots this season to keep their tiny tootsies toasty and dry.
It's also essential to choose the correct size advises Dr. Velimir Petkov, Medical Director of Premier Podiatry. "When shopping for children's snow boots, you should choose boots that are half a size to a size larger than your child's foot size to allow room for thick socks. Our feet and hands tend to be the first body parts to get cold, so proper insulation is key," says Dr. Petkov. "One of the main concerns when walking or playing outside in the snow is falling. Foot and ankle injuries are extremely common in the cold months. Make sure that you select soles constructed of rubber that provide a good grip when confronted with moisture."
School's out, and as the temperatures start to heat up, creating a summer reading list is a cool way for parents to connect with their kids and foster a love of learning. This month, Save the Children has launched a reading campaign, 100 Days of Reading, to get kids excited about books.
"Knowing what's at stake for children in America in terms of summer learning loss was a motivating factor for Save the Children to create this easy-to-do 100 Days of Reading campaign," said Carolyn Miles, CEO of Save the Children. "Read a Story, Change Their Story has the potential to make transformational change for children. We've set an ambitious goal to log 100 million minutes of reading this summer to benefit every child and hope you'll join us."
We've rounded up a list of page-turners by age group to entertain your kiddos and make them want to pick up a book and not put it down during the lazy days of summer. Help Save the Children reach 100 million minutes by logging your reading time together with the kids.
