In the 1850s and 1860s, Los Poncheros were celebrated explorers and hired guns during America's violent and electrifying expansion westward. In 1857, in order to make some extra cash, Lew Dang (The Asian Ponchero), Turbin Corbett (El Colorado Ponchero), and Ancelmo la Vaca (The Mexican Ponchero) find themselves on a tributary of the Upper Missouri trapping beavers when they run into the feared Blackhand tribe. Skip forward 12 years and Los Poncheros, the former dime novel heroes, are now outlawed because of their failed attempt to form a breakaway republic during the Civil War. With few prospects and lots of enemies, they become easy prey for powerful opportunists. Lew Dang, The Asian Ponchero, is forced by a high-minded Governor to integrate a racist and violent Western Territory. Charlie Dart, The Black Ponchero, and his family is targeted by corrupt businessmen. Respects Nothing, The Apache Ponchero, decides to help a slippery speculator into provoking White Flight. Turbin Corbett, El Colorado Ponchero, is slowly losing his mind somewhere in a dark cave. All of them long for their old home in Ponchería. read more
