The fur is flying again this holiday season! Pomsies, the fluffy interactive toys that were a huge hit last year, are once again topping the lists of the best Christmas toys for kids in 2018 and selling out fast. Pomsies—as most parents already know—are petite, supercute fluff balls that wrap around kids' wrists, hair, clothing or backpacks, and have eyes that light up and change color, depending on their mood. The collection of in-demand virtual pets (move over, Fingerlings!) is mostly made up of kitties such as Pomsies Sherbert, but the pom-pom pack also includes Pomsies unicorn Luna, Pomsies dragon Zoey and Pomsies koala Sydney. Both Amazon and Walmart currently have Pomsies in stock, but they're going quickly (so maybe don't wait for those Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals). Here are some of the most popular Pomsies to shop right now, plus where to buy them.

Fingerlings were one of the hottest toys last holiday season. In fact, they were so popular that Fingerlings Minis and even Fingerlings keychains soon followed. But this year, Fingerlings HUGS are at the top of every kid's wish list and one of the best Christmas toys of 2018. The adorable interactive plushies feature long arms that can wrap around your kid for a cuddle, and they also give kisses, giggle, repeat after your child and — whoops! — pass gas. The collection includes animals such as a unicorn and sloth, but we have to say that Fingerlings monkeys Boris and Bella might just be the cutest toys ever. While you'll likely find sweet Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals on these cute critters on toy store shelves across the country, there are even better deals — and exclusive animals! — available online at Amazon, Walmart and Target now. So, stop arguing with your little one about whether they're getting a real puppy or kitten, and tell them Santa might just deliver a monkey, sloth or unicorn pal instead! Shop the Fingerlings collection below.
The diaper bag. It is a necessary part of parenthood, from baby's first few days in this world well into what may be their toddler years. It can seem daunting at first to try and determine what defines "must-have" versus "meh, maybe not" on-the-go gear. That's why we've rounded up our favorite diaper bag essentials, from a few ideas as to what to pack in a diaper bag for the hospital to what might even be a bit of a "bonus" for mom and dad. Speaking of, not much differs when it comes to diaper bag essentials for dad or mom, but guys on the go may appreciate a diaper bag backpack or duffle of their very own. You know, to avoid potential paisley prints or darling designs perhaps less desired by some dudes.

This book is about self-love for kids. It’s about finding our own unique spots and being okay with what nature gave us. It’s about... seeing what beautiful spots are found in nature by looking at animals and their spots and markings. I was inspired by my first daughter who was born with a Mongolian mark on her leg. She noticed it when she was just a baby and often asked me to wash it off or remove it. I felt so bad that I couldn’t remove it. Each time she would look at it she seemed upset so I told her that her birthmark is just like the marks on many animals in nature. I told her just like a leopard has its spots so does she and that it’s unique to her. This book expands on that idea and hopefully helps little kids accept their birthmarks whatever they may be by illustrating some of nature’s animals/birds/fish/insects and their marks or what I call in the book “spots.” read more
Excerpt from Wild Hyacinth: A NovelI'r was the last day of April, a lovely day, more like those sung of by the poets than the piti...less combinations of east wind and snow-showers to which we, alas! In these degenerate days are more accustomed. The sun shone warm and bright, the sky was of a soft and tender blue, flecked here and there with fleecy white clouds; the foliage exhibited every shade of green, from the pale, delicate leaf of the beech and the silvery gray of the willow to the deeper tint of the budding oak and the sombre shadow of an occasional Scotch fir. There was little breeze stirring; now and again a gentle air moved among the tree-tops and went whispering away among the budding ferns and brambles; but there was nothing oppressive in the stillness, - it was broken by the murmur of the rivulet, by the note of the thrush, the soft cooing of the wood-pigeon, the song of the nightingale and the buzzing of the bees over the sheets of wild hyacinth that seemed as if the sky broke up from under-ground.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. "It's not like I never thought about being mixed race. I guess it was just that, in Brooklyn, everyone was competing to be unique ...or surprising. By comparison, I was boring, seriously. Really boring." Culture shock knocks city girl Agnes "Nes" Murphy-Pujols off-kilter when she's transplanted mid–senior year from Brooklyn to a small Southern town after her mother's relationship with a coworker self-destructs. On top of the move, Nes is nursing a broken heart and severe homesickness, so her plan is simple: keep her head down, graduate and get out. Too bad that flies out the window on day one, when she opens her smart mouth and pits herself against the school's reigning belle and the principal. Her rebellious streak attracts the attention of local golden boy Doyle Rahn, who teaches Nes the ropes at Ebenezer. As her friendship with Doyle sizzles into something more, Nes discovers the town she's learning to like has an insidious undercurrent of racism. The color of her skin was never something she thought about in Brooklyn, but after a frightening traffic stop on an isolated road, Nes starts to see signs everywhere—including at her own high school where, she learns, they hold proms. Two of them. One black, one white. Nes and Doyle band together with a ragtag team of classmates to plan an alternate prom. But when a lit cross is left burning in Nes's yard, the alterna-prommers realize that bucking tradition comes at a price. Maybe, though, that makes taking a stand more important than anything. read more

They say everyone’s a superhero to someone. I’m not sure who I’m supposed to save, but I know who saved me. We were kids. His name... was Christopher. And up until the day he pulled me from death’s grip, he was nothing more than a boy I felt sorry for. In a blink of an eye, he became the only person who made me feel safe. And then he disappeared. Now I’m seventeen. I’m not a kid anymore. I haven’t been for years. While death didn’t take me that day, the things that happened left me with scars—the kind that robbed me of everything I once loved and drove me into darkness. But more than anything else, that day—and every day since—has taken away my desire to dream. I wasn’t going to have hope. I wouldn’t let myself wish. Those things—they weren’t for girls like me. That’s what I believed…until the new boy. He’s nothing like the old boy. He’s taller and older. His hair is longer, and his body is lean—strong and ready for anything. I don’t feel sorry for him. And sometimes, I hate him. He challenges me. From the moment I first saw him standing there on the baseball field, he pushed me—his eyes constantly questioning, doubting…daring. Still, something about him—it feels…familiar. He says his name is Wes. But I can’t help but feel like he’s someone else. Someone from my past. Someone who’s come back to save me. This time, though, he’s too late. Josselyn Winters, the girl he once knew, is gone. I am the threat; I am my worst enemy. And he can’t save me from myself. read more
