As a child, did you pretend to live in a castle by arranging old blankets over the couch and chairs? There was something so fun about sitting underneath mom's old sheets. Now think how much more awesome it would be to actually have a bed that looks like a mini house! Enter the toddler house bed, also known as a Montessori floor bed.
These beds are exactly what they sound like: Picture a house-shaped frame above the mattress, complete with windows, a door and a kitchen (OK, just kidding about the kitchen). But now picture your little angel's precious head resting underneath one of these magical creations.
While this may seem like a cool, new way to sleep, the floor bed concept actually dates back to the early 20th century teaching philosophy called the Montessori Method, which focuses on placing everything a child needs to learn and explore at the child's level. So, by placing their bed on the floor, you give children independence and a chance to learn on their own terms.
Here, we've rounded up some of our favorite toddler house beds that are ready to take up residence in dreamland.

Your exhausted body will appreciate any one of these supportive and comfortable maternity bands, plus some can be worn all pregnancy long and may even double as postpartum belts. Scroll through our selection of helpful pregnancy products and accessories from Amazon, Target, Motherhood Maternity and more.

Still sorting out how to balance your new bun in the oven with an old workout routine? Well, the timing is perfect to put high-tech fitness trackers to the test to monitor safe prenatal exercises, heart rates and sleep patterns while staying healthy and fit for the next nine months (and beyond, of course!). New moms must keep moving for optimal well-being, suggests G. Thomas Ruiz, MD, OB/GYN Lead at MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center in Fountain Valley, California. "We encourage expectant women to engage in exercise or physical activity on a regular basis throughout their pregnancy," he advises. "Women who are physically active during pregnancy tend to have smaller babies, which most women who are pushing out a kid don't mind." But what about the anxieties of pregnant moms who fear the harmful effects of radiation from such devices? "There has never been a study to demonstrate that background radiation from a cell phone or a Bluetooth device has had a deleterious effect on the outcome of pregnancy," says Dr. Ruiz. "There has been no data to determine it. We do ultrasounds on a regular basis, which is sending sound energy to the baby so we can do diagnostic work, and that is at a much higher level of energy than a cell phone. It's never been shown to demonstrate harmful effects towards the baby or the pregnancy. So moms can use their trackers to their heart's content." So stay strong and count on, Mama! From Fitbit to Bellabeat, here are are our best picks to keep new moms stepping out in style.

The story line of this book was created from the pleasure I attained from looking out a large window at my lake property in Wiscon...sin. Over many years, as I drank my morning coffee or ate my lunch at noon, I observed in wonderment many different kinds of animals and birds interacting with one another.Nature continued to illustrate other observations to me that I have written about. These observations helped me to create a story line for children not only to enjoy reading but also perhaps could assist them in learning an important life lesson. If you enjoyed reading about Scooter and Lilly who learned a lesson to never give up, you may also enjoy reading about Harry the Hummingbird and Chucky the Black Squirrel, two other story lines about sharing and bullying! read more
