It was our last day in London, and we were strolling around the Picadilly area. As I walked out of one of the shops, I caught this... amazing scene of the Royal Academy of the Arts. There was an impressionist art exhibit happening with a large banner advertising the event. I loved how the double-decker bus arrived at the right time. The red flag swaying also added to the fun of this picture. This is what makes travel fun. When you walk around the corner, you never know what you'll see...and sometimes they are moments which take your breath away.About the artist:Most of us are captivated by beautiful imagery in our daily life: a vibrant sunset, a beautiful piece of architecture, a garden. And yet, with our busy lives, we don't always have time to enjoy what we already have in our surroundings. I am an artist living in San Diego, painting for over 20 years. My daytime profession is in healthcare, but my artful spirit calls me to create on a regular basis. I began experimenting with oil paints as a young teen. In college I continued my endeavors with various media, and accomplished the equivalent of a Minor of Art in college. After college I pursued a graduate degree in psychology, yet still I continued painting. I have apprenticed under Tetrachromat Artist Concetta Antico in San Diego. Through her instruction, I became the oil painter and artist I am today. In spite of my day job in healthcare, I am regularly compelled to paint and share meaningful images with others in my own colorful and playful style. read more

My kid brother found a fox skull while in the woods with his friend several years ago. I've always wanted to paint it, and so upon... returning from San Francisco to my home in New Jersey, I set up the skull in different ways to paint from life. I just want to paint the same object multiple times to familiarize myself with it, but also to gradually develop a narrative. This was the first.About the artist:Born and raised in New Jersey, Julian Tejera has seldom gone a day without pencil in hand. Receiving his BFA in illustration from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University in 2008, he worked as a freelance and portrait artist for a number of years. While working at the Montclair Art Museum Julian discovered a passion for teaching, leading to the start of a career as a sought after art instructor for teens and adults in his home state. The decision to pursue a master's degree came from wanting to push his artistic vision as well as a desire to teach at a collegiate level, and so he attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, graduating in 2015. While in school, he won 1st place in the MFA figurative category of the AAU Spring Show two years in a row. He has also exhibited elsewhere in New Jersey, New York City, San Francisco, and New Hampshire. His artwork seeks to draw the viewer into the quiet moments of his figurative subject matter, using strong design and technique to lead the eye around the picture plane and weave a visual narrative. His current body of work uses bold abstract design to complement the subtle, refined rendering of his figures. read more
