Sophie: A Bronx Tail is about finding your place in the world. Sophie, an elephant at the Bronx Zoo, always wonders whats on the o...ther side. One day, after hours, she decides to explore the zoo and ends up having an amazing adventure of self-discovery. As a mom and a teacher, I have experienced childrens curiosity regarding what happens to the zoo animals when the zoo closes at night. As a child, I loved elephants and often wondered the same. The Wild Asia enclosure is one of my favorite spots at the Bronx Zoo. I took this opportunity to awaken childrens curiosity about zoos, while emphasizing a lesson about being happy with oneself. Some fun-facts, in the Authors Note, are also included to pique childrens interest in the Bronx Zoo and some of the animals encountered by Sophie while on her adventure. Reading to your child is a gift, and it is my hope that this book provides your child with this gift. A portion of the yearly profits from the sale of this book will be donated to the Wildlife Conservation Society. read more

A Sailboat for Dad! is an inspiring true children's story about a father who remembered the good times he had as a boy when he spe...nt summer days at the home of his cousins at White Bear Lake, one of Minnesota's beautiful lakes! Dad often described to his son, Billy age 12, and daughter Margaret age 9, how he learned to sail with his cousins on their sailboat docked nearby. Oh, how he wished he had a sailboat of his own! He wondered, could our family build a sailboat in our big garage? Mom, Billy, and Margaret agreed to help Dad build a sailboat, and he cheered "Let's start" First, Dad bought a book showing boat-building blueprints. The lumber company suggested using marine plywood, and mahogany wood. During the next four years there were complications when necessary tools and materials were not on hand, requiring many trips to neighborhood hardware stores. Neighbors and friends stopped by often to give advice and take pictures! Finally, the sailboat was painted and ready for its first voyage. Dad and Billy moved the boat onto a trailer and hooked it to the hitch of our Ford Fairlane. Cautiously, we drove to White Bear Lake. I prayed the boat would float. My prayers were answered when it slid slowly off the trailer into the blue waves . . . and it floated! Dad hoisted the sails and the wind moved us toward the middle of the lake. Suddenly, dark clouds appeared, and a strong wind caught the sails. Dad turned back towards the shore and to our car for the trip home. In remembrance of our family building a sailboat, Dad painted 20 full-page watercolors highlighting the stages of boat construction. Now, years later, the red sailboat sails in San Francisco Bay. Grown-up Bill now lives in San Francisco and enjoys sailing on the Bay with his friends and especially with his visiting Minnesota relatives. read more

The Adventures of Ali Thunda (Books 1-5) is a work of historical fiction based on the life of Mr. Noel Dyer, a Jamaican Rastafari ...personally known to the Author, whose quest for his promised land, the ancient biblical land of Ethiopia provided the inspiration for The Adventures of Ali Thunda, Books 1-5. The Author has created the story with a certain flavour of authenticity by quoting Ali Thunda personally in italics throughout the book. The Adventures of Ali Thunda (Books 1-5) has opened a small window through which the reader may view and contemplate the social environment of the 1960's in Jamaica - which gave rise to an important character as Ali Thunda who described himself as a symbol of the Rastafarian Faith. Although Ali Thunda was illiterate, he did not lack intelligence, imagination and highly retentive skills. He stored information very efficiently in his memory instead of writing them down on a note pad as literate people often do. The names used in the narrative are all fictional and any similarity to specific individuals is purely coincidental. The story is neither a biography of Ali Thunda nor an analysis of the Rastafarian beliefs and practices. read more
