Horror Lurks WithinInnistrad is a plane of menace and dread where every creature hides a darker aspect. On the world of Innistrad, humans have always been pawns. For the mighty vampire families, humans are the source of blood and the ...foundation of their power. For the werewolf packs, humans are prey. For the ghouls and ghosts of the plane, humans are reminders of lives gone by, the despised living to be hunted and terrified. And for demons and devils, humans are targets for their hatred and torment. Sorin was among the first generation of vampires created on Innistrad. He saw how his kind spread over the plane, feeding on and ultimately diminishing the populace. He argued for restraint, but the other vampire families resented his intrusion. Unknown to his kin, however, Sorin was a Planeswalker. He traveled the Multiverse searching for a solution to the grave situation on his home plane. Ultimately, he created the archangel Avacyn, a protector that would watch over the humans of Innistrad and serve as the symbol of hope. Thousands of years later, Innistrad is still afflicted with monstrous creatures, but thanks to Sorin's intervention, the Avacynian Church continues to lend its protection to the world's humans. The fiendish mage Tibalt was born human, but immediately showed a predilection for inflicting pain. When a dark invocation caused his essence to be merged with infernal devils of Innistrad, his Planeswalker spark was ignited. He was free to traverse the Multiverse looking for new unfortunates to torment, but the innocent people of his native Innistrad were always his favorite victims. Sorin, with his long-sighted, vampiric perspective, knows that humanity may lose its tenuous grip on survival if Innistrad's monstrous forces hunt too recklessly. The young pain-mage Tibalt, on the other hand, respects no authority but his own vicious whims. As they clash, neither will tolerate anything but the utter defeat of his foe. Who will prevail is up to you. Contents: Two ready-to-play 60-card decksTwo deck boxesTwo creature tokensA strategy insert A Magic "learn to play" guideP read more

The Bait and Switch deck has a lot of tricks up its sleeve. It features a wide variety of "tribal" cards (cards that work with spe...cific creature types) and a lot of cards that allow you to change one creature's type to another. When this deck has time to develop, it can win in very cool ways. The more you play, the more wacky interactions you'll discover. The Mistform creatures are the pillars that hold up the whole deck. Each one can transform into any creature type you want. Turn one into a Zombie to regenerate it with Boneknitter, create Goblins to use with Cabal Slaver, or increase the number of Wizards you control to take advantage of Information Dealer. You can even make your Mistform Wall into a Beast so it can attack. If you can pull all these tricks and more with the cards in your own deck, imagine what'll happen when you face tribal cards in your opponent?s deck! The creatures of the "Special Forces" deck are all mission specialists - the attackers have huge power and the blockers have enorm...ous toughness. Creatures like Dross Crocodile, Plasma Elemental, and Emissary of Despair inflict devastating damage, while Steel Wall and Arachnoid hold down a rock-solid defense. But what if your foe tries to stop your fragile 5/1 Dross Crocodile with a weenie blocker? That's where your specialized Equipment comes in. Slagwurm Armor and Ensouled Scimitar cover your attackers' weak spots, giving them massive defensive boosts to round them out. Whispersilk Cloak makes an attacker unblockable and untargetable, making its low toughness practically irrelevant. A Cloak-wearing Crocodile can win the game all by itself! read more

Ixidor was the master illusionist who created morph magic, and his legacy is one of trickery and deceit. While playing the Ixidors... Legacy deck, youll pick up right where he left off. Shapeshifting is this decks specialty. Your face-down creatures do it. Your Shapeshifters do it. Cards like Unstable Mutation or Shaper Parasite do it. But the real fun is when you shift the shape of your opponents creatures! Shaper Parasite can drop a small creatures toughness to 0, spelling its immediate doom. Even better, Serendib Sorcerer and Merfolk Thaumaturgist can team up to turn any creature into a not-long-for-this-world 2/0.After youve dealt with your opponents threats, its time to finish the game with some threats of your own. Tidewalker isnt very stable, but it can be gigantic. How big Aeon Chronicler is depends on your hand size, which means it can also be hugeand if its getting too small, you can play Ovinomancer or turn Fathom Seer face up to put a bunch of cards in your hand. As Ixidors heir, youll always have another trick up your sleeve! read more

Entangling WebsIf you believe that bigger is better, the "Entangling Webs" deck is right up your alley! Loaded with giant predator...s and crafty spiders, this deck is perfect for an all-out rumble in the jungle. At the top end of the food chain are Garruk's Horde and Arachnus Spinner. The Horde is insanely big in its own right, plus it seeks out more creatures for you to cast! The Spinner lets your Spiders ensnare opposing creatures in Arachnus Webs, making it that much easier to attack. Don't be shy about attaching an Arachnus Web to a creature with power 4 or greater. It'll immobilize that creature for the rest of the turn, then after Arachnus Web is put into your graveyard, the Spinner's ability can search for it again! The rest of the deck's creatures can do a little of everything. Stampeding Rhino and Vastwood Gorger are better at attacking. Giant Spider is better at blocking. Acidic Slime and Stingerfling Spider can take out an opposing permanent when they show up, then stick around to fight. Based on what your opponent has, you may want to attack witheverything you've got, play defense until you gain a creature advantage (or draw Overrun!), or send in just one big monster while the rest of your forces keep you safe. If you enjoy playing this deck, a perfect addition is Garruk, Primal Hunter. He makes 3/3 Beasts, 7/7 Wurms, and rewards you for having high-powered creatures. Skinshifter is another dynamite choice, since it can transition between off ense and defense depending on what you need at the time. read more

The "Elemental Thunder" deck packs big creatures that become more powerful with every move your opponents make. Everyone will winc...e as you put creature after creature onto the battlefield, each with the potential to single-handedly defeat an opponent in a few turns. You will want to cast your big creatures early and often. Smokebraider, Rampant Growth, and Search for Tomorrow all give big boosts to your mana production. Use Flamekin Harbinger to search your library for the most threatening creature you can find. You won't believe the look on opponents' faces when they're suddenly staring down the business end of an early Verdant Force or Living Hive! This deck relies on some important creatures to defeat multiple opponents. Taurean Mauler looks puny at first glance, but against many opponents it becomes very scary very fast. The same goes for Forgotten Ancient, which gets bigger and bigger with each spell cast. With such huge threats, opponents might gang up to stop you early on. Protect yourself by forging an alliance, but if you get the chance to take out an opponent, go for it. Your planar deck offers support for your huge Elementals. Creature spells cost less on Turri Isle, making it easier to drop big creatures earlier in the game. Tapping a land in the Eloren Wilds produces an extra mana, which is great for casting expensive creature spells. Or you can just pump all that mana into putting +1/+1 counters on Ivy Elemental. On the Isle of Vesuva, creature spells summon two creatures. What could be better than getting two enormous Elementals for the price of one? read more

The "Eldritch Onslaught" deck is a tricky mix of flashback spells and wily creatures. With your bewildering array of magic, you'll... soon have your opponent spinning in circles. With this deck, you want to fill your graveyard as soon as possible. Target yourself with Dream Twist, activate Deranged Assistant's ability even if you don't need the manaeven enchant yourself with Curse of the Bloody Tome. It may sound strange, but it will definitely help you win. Your deck is filled instants and sorceries with flashback, which you can cast from your graveyard. Every time you put one into your graveyard, it's just like drawing another card you can cast! Cast twice as many spells as your opponent, and you're probably well on your way to victory. Many spells in this deck keep your opponent's creatures off the battlefield either by damaging them or by putting them back in their owner's hand or library. Combined with your defensive creatures, you should be able to survive long enough to take control of the game. You might finish your opponent off with Sturmgeist or Charmbreaker Devils or use Burning Vengeance to dominate the late game. After you have a good sense of the deck, there are multiple ways to personalize it. You can concentrate on the library-depletion plan, perhaps with Magic 2012 cards like Jace's Erasure. Twist the focus to your own library, and you can use the instant win condition of Laboratory Maniac. Beef up the flashback content of the deck with cards like Devil's Play, allowing you to deal as much damage as you can afford. twice! read more
