Mindy Kaling Can’t Help Stealing Magna-Tiles From Her Kid and Neither Can We
by Bethany Braun-Silva
Kids love to build things, that’s no secret. The appeal of LEGOs and blocks are pretty much universal, but as of late, there is another toy that is sweeping the building category. Magna-Tiles are clear, colorful tiles that teach kids STEM skills — like engineering and geometry — kicking their imaginations into high gear while developing their fine motor skills. Not to mention they’re an addictive good time.
The tiles click into place with the help of a magnet and are geared toward kids ages 3 and up. A special Eric Carle set was released last month and features tiles from his most popular books like The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Brown Bear Brown Bear.
They are also a hit among parents; many grown-ups find the tiles just as addictive to play with as their kids do, even hijacking them à la Mindy Kaling. The actress recently took to Instagram to show her love for the toy, writing, “When you say you’re going to help your kid build but then you get impatient and completely take over.” Looks like she’s playing with daughter Katherine’s Magna-Tiles 100-Piece Set.
Many of Kaling’s followers were quick to agree. “Yay, Magna-Tiles are the literal best,” one user wrote. While fellow celeb mom and Megan Markle’s BFF, Jessica Mulroney, chimed in, “Hahaha. I did this the other day.”
We’ve rounded up our favorite Magna-Tile sets below. Check them out and please remember to share with your children!
